The most important aspect of a course is its educational outcomes. A successful course is one which, once completed, can be seen to have fully achieved its objectives, i.e. the learner has acquired (or exceeded) the language skills of the targeted level and masters the language material studied within the chosen course.
To evaluate the level attained at the end of the course, a learning assessment is offered to each learner. As an approved Bright Language centre in France, I offer my students the possibility of taking the Bright language assessment test in Russian (Code Répertoire Spécifique France Compétences RS465) which is one of the most widely used tests in France in the field of professional training. Conducted 100% online, the Bright test enables testing at all levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) scale.
Bright Language Certification
This certification is open to all candidates who have taken a Russian language course. It cannot be split into skill blocks.
Bright certification is not linked to other certification or authorization schemes, therefore it does not provide access to a gateway to another certification. Furthermore, it does not lead to a particular job because it is a language test that assesses your level of knowledge of Russian.
A Bright Language certificate valid for 2 years is given to each learner at the end of their course subject to passing the final test.
Test procedure
Everything takes place on the online testing platform. Each candidate accesses the test interface using their personal identifier received by email.
The Bright test contains two parts: a written comprehension (reading) test and an oral comprehension (listening) test.
The two tests aim to show the learner's skills in grammar, written and oral comprehension (reading and listening) and to assess their ability to identify and choose the correct syntactic and lexical structures. Both take the form of a multiple-choice test for which questions must be answered after reading sentences or after listening to pre-recorded audio extracts.
The candidate has 45 seconds to answer each of the written comprehension (reading) questions and 60 seconds for each of the oral comprehension (listening) questions and can listen to the question again in the allotted time. There is only one correct answer and it is not possible to return to a question later.
Once the test has been completed, the candidate can immediately access his assessment report. The test results are presented on a scale of 0 (complete beginner) to 5 (almost bilingual).
Success rate
The Bright Language certification that is used at the end of the course is by its nature a test that certifies the level of knowledge of a language at the time of taking the test. On completion, you simply receive a certificate with the score obtained. There is, however, a score scale. It is therefore possible to measure the success rate by comparing the learner’s levels at the start and at the end of the course.
The success rate assessed based on courses started and completed since January 2020 is 100%. Each learner had progressed in their knowledge of the Russian language by the end of the course (each in their own way, taking into account the duration of the tuition period and their own involvement). In addition, 43% of courses resulted in remarkable progress (rapid progress in a relatively short tuition period).
